Dr. Shyam Barr is a consultant, coach, and speaker who specialises in education, with a focus on metacognition and self-regulated learning. He has 17 years of professional experience in the education sector, working as a teacher, leader, researcher, and advisor in various contexts and settings, both nationally and internationally. He is also a Professional Associate (previously Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences) at the University of Canberra, where he conducts and disseminates research on professional learning approaches that support teachers' thinking and practice about self-regulated learning. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice, a Certificate in Executive Coaching, and a Leaders of Learning credential. He has won several awards and recognition for his research, teaching, and engagement, and has published his work through various channels, including books, journals, podcasts, and blogs. His mission is to help educators foster students' self-regulated learning, and to empower young people to bring about their preferred future.
