Gayle Dallaston
Gayle Dallaston is an author, researcher, and community advocate focused on practical, nature-based solutions for urban environments. Since planting her own verge garden in 2017, Gayle has studied what helps community-led greening efforts succeed—and what causes them to stall or fail. Her work sits at the intersection of urban ecology, local government collaboration, and community action, with a particular focus on how residents and councils can work together to increase shade, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Grounded in lived experience and wide research, Gayle brings clarity to complex social dynamics such as neighbour disputes, differing expectations of public space, and long-term maintenance challenges. Her mission is to give everyday people the confidence, knowledge, and strategic framework to take local action that creates lasting environmental and social impact.
