Ci vuole un villaggio (It Takes a Village) is Silvia Torchio's autobiographical novel about the people who shape a life. Silvia pictures her life as a moving bus: some passengers ride for only a few stops, others travel long stretches beside her, sharing thoughts, silences, experiences and change. Growing up an only child taught her independence, and also a deep need to build meaningful connections with others. She has always found it hard to let people go, yet she has learned that every encounter leaves something behind - a gesture, a phrase, a habit, even a wound - and that together they made the woman she has become.
